Welcome to our website! As we have the ability to list over one million items on our website (our selection changes all of the time), it is not feasible for a company our size to record and playback the descriptions on every item on our website. However, if you have a disability we are here to help you. Please call our disability services phone line at (434) 447-4200 during regular business hours and one of our kind and friendly personal shoppers will help you navigate through our website, help conduct advanced searches, help you choose the item you are looking for with the specifications you are seeking, read you the specifications of any item and consult with you about the products themselves. There is no charge for the help of this personal shopper for anyone with a disability. Finally, your personal shopper will explain our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, and help you place an order if you so desire.

Karobway Furniture & Floor Coverings was started in 1989 as a family business with Katherine, Robert, and Wayne Smith as the principals. The first location was in LaCrosse, Virginia, and we were only open on the weekends. The kids, Robert and Katherine, ran the business on the weekends, with Wayne picking up new merchandise during the week. The business grew rapidly and was moved to South Hill, Virginia, into the old Carver Furniture Store. At that time, Karobway consolidated with Wilson Floor Shop, enlarging our offerings to a full range of home furnishing products. Soon after the move to South Hill, Jo Ann Smith joined our company and Katherine left to get married and settled in Tennessee.

At first, there was hardly enough furniture to fill one floor of the Carver building. But as the business began to grow, it became clear that the building would not be large enough for us to serve our customers properly. In 1994, the business moved to the current location on 1423 North Mecklenburg Avenue, South Hill, Virginia. Initially, two 12,000 square feet buildings were constructed on the site. Sears decided to bring their new format store to the South Hill area and located it in the front half of the first building. Three years later in 1997, a third 12,000 square feet building was constructed. Then in 2007, we added an additonal 9,630 square feet of showroom to accomodate our customer needs.

Karobway Furniture & Floor Coverings was started with a simple goal of giving our area customers name brand furniture and floor coverings at the guaranteed lowest prices. Today, Karobway Furniture has 45,630 square feet of showroom space with the largest selection in Southside Virginia.

If you haven't figured out how we came up with the name, Karobway comes from the "KA" in Katherine, the "ROB" in Robert, and the "WAY" in Wayne. And, we treat our customers how we got our name, like Family!
